Strong Opposition to the Deployment of ROK Naval Vessels to the Conflict in Iran

The public’s stance regarding the U.S. request to deploy South Korean warships to the conflict in Iran is unequivocal: We Formally Oppose This Action. The government must prioritize national sovereignty and the will of its people over unjust foreign demands.

1. An Unjust War of Aggression

The current U.S. invasion of Iran mirrors the unilateral and brutal Nazi invasion of the Netherlands. This is an ill-conceived conflict, fueled by the reckless intoxication of past interference in Venezuela. The Republic of Korea Navy exists solely through the support of its citizens, and the Korean people do not—and will not—support a war of aggression that lacks international legitimacy.

2. Prestigious to intervene in the U.S.-Iran war

We have witnessed firsthand the atrocities committed by the U.S. military, including the tragic loss of 52 innocent students to missile strikes. Unlike the historical context of the Vietnam War, the Iranian people hold a deep and favorable impression of Koreans. To point our guns at a friendly nation under the hollow pretext of "protecting vessels" is a betrayal of our shared values and humanitarian principles.

3. Ending the Era of Passive Subservience

Historically, our government has struggled to resist U.S. demands for military assistance and has produced an image of a "America-dominated military" that lacks independent determination. We must not repeat the tragedy of Japanese colonial era, in which the foolishness of our ancestors sacrificed their young women as sex slaves. Now is the time for Korea to claim its sovereign "no" say.

4. Sovereignty Over Intimidation

Even if the refusal to deploy leads to threats regarding the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the peninsula, we cannot sacrifice our national dignity or the self-esteem of our citizens. Participating in a "dirty war" dictated by foreign interests is a dangerous decision that would strike a devastating blow to the heart of our nation.

Conclusion: The South Korean government must immediately reject the U.S. request for naval deployment. We will not be accomplices to an unjust war.
